CircleDE Podcast: Roadmap to Seeking Justice and Legal Guide
In the fourth episode of the ÇemberDE podcast series, we discuss the details of the legal guide prepared within the scope of the Migrant Women Support Project , which offers a roadmap in women's struggle for their rights. In this episode, we examine why this guide, one of the most tangible outcomes of the project, is of vital importance for women on the Belgium-Turkey route, with expert opinions.

The "in-between" situation of immigrant women can also complicate access to legal rights. In our conversation with Gülfer Kırbaş, Merve Köseoğlu, and lawyer Neriman Ersin, we discussed the counterparts of legal processes in Belgium to those in Türkiye, and how women can ensure their safety in both locations. We particularly highlighted the mechanisms that women visiting Türkiye for holidays or other purposes can utilize in cases of violence.
What did we discuss in this episode?
KADES and Emergency Response: How the KADES application works, which enables rapid police response by sharing location information during incidents of violence, and the responsibilities of law enforcement.
Law No. 6284: Details of protective rights for women experiencing violence in Turkey, such as shelter, restraining orders, and the little-known right to request alimony from the government.
Property Protection: The importance of registering a "family home" as a safeguard against economic violence, and legal avenues to prevent the concealment of assets during divorce proceedings.
Recognition of Divorce Decrees: Procedures to follow for a divorce decree issued in Belgium to be legally valid in Turkey.
This section brings together practical insights gleaned from the project's field experiences and the legal answers that women need most. In our next section, we will continue to share our observations from our visit to Brussels and our interactions with women's communities there.
